  • What I Got For Christmas

For me, Christmas started and ended the day my boys came home. One from a deployment, the other from his base in New York. I really didn't care about anything else. My husband didn't either. We had everything we asked for. Of course, the tree and the decorations were up as always and there was the usual round of family parties.Eating ourselves into a group coma, reminiscing, listening to my crazy cousin recite/try to sing every cartoon theme song we were bludgeoned with in our formative years(wince, polite smile, throw peanuts), reaching for another piece of fudge to keep from smacking my other cousin's greedy, whiny kids who complained non-stop because none of us bought them an iPod Nano(we all decided we didn't really like either of them that much), trying to ignore my brother who loves to sneer at anything he doesn't understand(pretty much everything). But when all that garbage was over, we went home to talk about my oldest son's upcoming wedding. Guess who's doing all the sewing. Go on, GUESS. Mama, of course. So yesterday, my future daughter-in-law and I went fabric shopping!! That was our Christmas present to her. Its going to destroy my already bad shoulder, but who's got time to worry about that? My youngest gave his girl a promise ring, so maybe I'll recover in time to sew her wedding dress. I sure hope so, because I don't think our insurance will cover bionic arms. Maybe for next Christmas...Santa, are you listening?
